Resilient Forest The resilient forest series combines articles, films, and audio stories to explore the relationships and traditions that have helped keep northeastern forests intact. this series also considers how both human and natural communities are adapting to change. “resilient forest landscapes: adaptive management in a changing climate” explores how adaptive management approaches can foster resilience in forest ecosystems, ensuring their functionality.
Resilient Forest A long history of deforestation and forest degradation often requires forest restoration to make forests more resilient. with many unknowns and much uncertainty, resilient forest management takes place in an adaptive management context. We outline a unifying framework of ecological resilience based on ecological mechanisms that lead to outcomes of persistence, recovery, and reorganization. persistence is the ability of individuals to tolerate exposure to environmental stress, disturbance, or competitive interactions. Over four days more than 140 scientists met to share developments and to discuss forest ecology, genetics, genomics and evolution with a focus on realising “resilient forests for the future”. Resilient forestry is dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive working environment where all are committed to growing a diverse and equitable workforce.

Careful and data driven forest management is an effective way to prevent wildfires, improve soil water recharge and reduce drought risk. in this infographic you can see how the forest management approach developed in our project works.
