Sarah lanum, akshay aralikatti, and kathryn anderson are competing for the position of the commissioner of sustainability affairs in 2025’s associated student general election. sarah lanum is a fourth year microbiology major with plans to continue her studies for at least another year.
My Experience As Associated Students Of Csu Chico Chico State In my commissioner role, i had the opportunity to connect with students and provide events where they could make their voices heard. i was lucky enough to work with the best team imaginable!. The program provides funding opportunities for student initiated projects with sustainable themes and facilitates an internship program through which students gain meaningful experience by advancing sustainability within the as and educating the campus community on sustainability issues. The as sustainability center exists to ignite a passion in the campus community to be active in protecting and restoring the earth. we do this by researching, imagining, and creating solutions that address environmental and cultural problems. While looking to my future career pathway, the things i’ve accomplished and learned as the commissioner of sustainability have built my confidence in immense ways.

Government affairs is the official voice for the students at chico state. it includes elected student officers and staff who represent and advocate on behalf of the student body. government affairs offers a variety of engagement opportunities on issues that affect the campus and community. This council is responsible for making policy recommendations to the government affairs, associated students businesses, and bell memorial union committees on issues concerning sustainability, environmental, and social justice. The role of the csc is to facilitate the achievement of csu, chico’s sustainability goals. it is important that the composition of the csc reflects the ability of the committee to facilitate accountability for attaining these goals. Responsible for making policy recommendations to the government affairs, a.s., and bmu committees on issues concerning sustainability, environment, and social justice.
