Alumni Gmu College Of Science Studies have demonstrated that active learning environments in higher education facilitate social interactions and collaborations, and that formal and informal interactions at university are related to an increased sense of belonging (peacock and cowan 2019). To examine how belonging differs across student identities and institutions, professor gopalan and colleagues looked at the responses from the only nationally representative survey of college students to date that had measured belonging.
