The american academy of neurology recognizes the career achievements and global impact of merit cudkowicz, md, msc, for advancing als research and treatment. Funded by the national institutes of health (nih), the access for all in als consortium (all als), is a community of two coordination centers and 35 research sites across the united states, conducting a combined longitudinal natural history study and biomarker collection study for als. To enhance the quality of life for those living with als and address the need for treatment advances, the national academies of science, engineering, and medicine (nasem) was tasked by congress to establish a plan to make als a livable disease within a decade. A network of clinics and research centres (ie, the spokes of the proposed model) would be coordinated by a few large als centres of excellence—the hubs. if implemented, this new als network would transform and improve als patient care and participation in clinical research.
