Aca Webinar Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal Mfn
Aca Webinar Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal Mfn Join the new england aquarium, seaahead, and angel capital association for an exciting panel discussion exploring the current state of marine carbon dioxide removal and areas where innovation and investment can push this sector forward while preserving, protecting, and restoring the health of our ocean ecosystems. Represent one ton of co2e removed from the carbon cycle and stored (“removal offsets”) or that was not emitted compared to a baseline scenario (“avoidance offsets”).
February 13 Webinar Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal Alaska Ocean Join seaahead and the new england aquarium for a webinar panel discussion exploring the current state of marine carbon dioxide removal and areas where innovation and investment can push this sector forward while preserving\, protecting\, and restoring the health of our ocean ecosystems.webinar speakers:luke sawitsky\, principal at sea aheaddr. Join us and the new england aquarium for a webinar panel discussion exploring the current state of marine carbon dioxide removal and areas where innovation and investment can push this. Marine carbon dioxide removal, or mcdr, is an umbrella term we use to describe the suite of approaches and technologies that boost the ocean’s carbon uptake. these approaches fall into two broad categories: biotic and abiotic. Philanthropic donors can help the global oceans by supporting the research of benefits, risks, and costs of ocean carbon removal. the video below provides an overview of potential approaches to accelerate the ocean’s uptake of atmospheric co2 to counteract climate change.

Philanthropic donors can help the global oceans by supporting the research of benefits, risks, and costs of ocean carbon removal. the video below provides an overview of potential approaches to accelerate the ocean’s uptake of atmospheric co2 to counteract climate change. Carbon dioxide removal (cdr) aims to remove carbon dioxide (co2) from the atmosphere and store it long term underground or in the ocean. there are many techniques and strategies to remove co2 from the atmosphere, some of which operate on land whereas others are in the ocean. This webinar provided a high level overview of the more commonly considered mcdr techniques across biotic and abiotic methods. it also touch on governance considerations and emphasize the importance of community engagement, especially with indigenous and fisheries communities. This webinar will showcase ‘principles for responsible and effective marine carbon dioxide removal development and governance’, a ‘blue paper’ commissioned by the ocean panel and launched just ahead of the 3rd un ocean conference. As the field is rapidly evolving, the national academies ocean studies board will establish a new standing committee to regularly update the 2022 report so that it remains relevant and serves as a trusted, vetted, and transparent resource for the mcdr community.
