Art pedagogy refers to the practice of teaching and learning art. it encompasses the methods, theories, and strategies used to educate individuals in various art forms, such as painting, sculpture, drawing, and photography. This article reviews 20 years of attitudes to drawing pedagogy, and looks forward with a studioful of post pandemic optimism. it reiterates the importance of drawing in art schools as the most direct and economic means of nurturing our intelligence of seeing. The third part expands on the theme of pedagogy as transformation, drawing from the author’s conviction that she and her art education students are participants in a community of artists who teach. the three parts interact in an attempt to rediscover and reclaim the art in teaching.
