Cycle Phases Circular Regions

Cycle Phases Circular Regions The ccri specifically targets eu cities and regions, and supports them in improving circularity in their economic sectors, value chains and services. they are the closest governance level to europe’s citizens and sources of innovation, socio economic transformation and circular ecosystems. Today, cities demand almost two thirds of global energy, produce up to 80% of greenhouse gas emissions and 50% of global waste. the circular economy is based on three principles: i) design out waste and pollution; ii) keep products and materials in use; and iii) regenerate natural systems. This study addresses this knowledge gap by asking: “how has circular economy been implemented in regions around the world?”. in answering this, the paper also identifies the key mechanisms that enable circular economy implementation in regional settings. The cities & regions programme has been designed to provide public sector organisations at local, regional, and national levels, decision support tools and resources to help bridge bottom up and top down circular economy across sectors and stakeholders.

The boundaries of such circular regions are determined by the interdependent activities related to circular actions, such as recycling, repair or reuse of materials and products, the geographical spread of which can vary depending on the sector of the economy and the material flow. At its most simple, a circular economy region represents a geographically defined area → it could be a city, a county, or even a larger multi state region → that consciously strives to minimize waste and maximize resource utilization. It has developed a suite of practical and effective tools to help organisations in the circular economy and related areas, such as bio economy, social economy, regenerative economy and carbon neutrality, to catalogue, categorise, contextualise and connect data and resources. Industry from large international conglomerates down to small business need to transition to circular business models. some of the hurdles they face include limited access to relevant circular initiatives and the identification of partners interested in collaboration.
