In “sick day,” a shortage of substitute teachers means principal ava coleman must take over a class. the results are, predictably, disastrous—but the acting is comedy gold. When janine gets sick due to tuna melt, ava has no options but to spend a day in her shoes as the substitute teacher of her class. meanwhile, barbara and melissa enjoy a day with none of janine's shenanigans with tasha, a teacher that typically avoids her. On abbott elementary season 2 episode 9, janine is forced to take a sick day, and when ava can't find a sub, she has to take over her classroom.
