A Homelab Update Christopher Hart
A Homelab Update Christopher Hart To start off, let’s take a look at the latest lab topology, then i’ll explain what has changed since the previous update and my rationale behind certain decisions. Just a quick update on my home lab some new servers and a hint of some exciting things to come this year!.
Homelab Update R Homelab It's been a while since my last homelab post — long enough that a lot has changed. this is my attempt to catch everything up in one place. grab a coffee. The network architecture is intentionally closer to a small enterprise topology than a simple homelab. that has been a deliberate design choice for a long time, and it has become more important as the platform has grown. So, the first update i did was in the hardware department. i first experimented with a jbod type usb disk array, thinking i could get away with a $150 piece of hardware and some new hdds, but that was a disaster due to very unreliable connections. In this post, i’ll walk you through the current state of my homelab, the new additions i’ve made, and the changes i’ve implemented to keep everything running smoothly.

An up to date topology of my homelab is below. home computer custom built in november of 2021. This covers the major changes i can recall realistically there have been dozens of smaller iterations, fixes, and experiments along the way that didn’t make the cut here. the homelab is a living system; something is always being tweaked, broken, and improved. This post kicks off an ongoing series exploring the components and applications that make up my newly rebuild homelab. a homelab is a great resource for honing devops and infrastructure skills. Migrating core homelab infrastructure into a dedicated vlan, defining trust boundaries, and documenting the decisions that make the system understandable and resilient.
