Launched in the summer of 2022, the ryan mire, md summer internship program was designed with a dual purpose in mind. first, we aim to diversify the healthcare workforce by opening doors for underrepresented communities. Birks, a neuroscience major from dry branch, was chosen for the ryan mire, m.d., summer internship program and spent two months in washington working in the acp’s public policy and regulatory affairs department. In april of 2023, acp named its summer internship program the ryan mire, md summer internship program due to his passionate commitment for mentorship and advancing health equity.
