The division of student affairs (dsa) aims to offer a wide range of new experiences and opportunities for students outside the classroom, thereby enabling students to embark on the process of understanding themselves as critical and engaged citizens. The middle east partnership initiative (mepi) student leaders program (slp) is a fully funded 5 week intensive training program held at four u.s. universities for 60 undergraduate and early stage graduate students between the ages 20 and 24 from the mena region. The purpose of the program is to connect the mentee to the slpkc and naspa, provide the mentee with networking opportunities during the conference, and allow the mentee to learn more about working with student leadership programs. Scholars studying leadership development in higher education have substantiated several evidence based practices in the last two decades about how to best strengthen leadership development among college students. however, these results are scattered across various journals, dissertations, and books.
