Parshat Yitro Kehillat Derech Eretz The name of the parshah, "yitro," means "jethro" and it is found in exodus 18:1. moses ’ father in law, jethro, hears of the great miracles which g‑d performed for the people of israel, and comes from midian to the israelite camp, bringing with him moses’ wife and two sons. Yitro, yithro, yisroi, yithre, yisrau, or yisro (יִתְרוֹ ‎, hebrew for the name " jethro," the second word and first distinctive word in the parashah) is the seventeenth weekly torah portion (hebrew: פָּרָשָׁה, romanized: parashah; pl. parshiyot) in the annual jewish cycle of torah reading and the fifth in the book of exodus.
