The human toll is already significant. nearly three quarters of the world’s population live in countries classified as water insecure or critically water insecure. around four billion people experience severe water scarcity for at least one month each year, while drought impacts cost an estimated $307 billion annually. Climate change, global population growth, and rising standards of living have put immense strain on natural resources, resulting in the unsecured availability of water as an existential resource. access to high quality drinking water is crucial for daily life, food production, industry, and nature. Here, we present the results of a scoping exercise conducted across the global water sector. more than 400 respondents submitted an excess of 4,000 potential questions.
